While kayaking last summer we came across this comical seagull sitting in a small dinghy.  He looked so huge.  Seagulls are my favourite birds and my grand daughter calls them Beach Chickens which totally suits them in my opinion.

While driving through the Tuscany countryside in Italy we came across this beautiful field of sunflowers.  The sunflowers themselves had pretty much gone to seed leaving a vista of yellow with one lone sunflower still in bloom at the side of the road.  Such beautiful country.  We plan on going back one day when these sunflowers are still in bloom and the back ground fields are planted in grain crops.  The fields at this time had been plowed under ready for the winter rains.

One of my favourite memories of Italy is their colourful and quaint window boxes filled with geraniums, herbs and vegies.  The Italians use whatever container available making beautiful artistic vistas in every spare corner.  This one is from Venice.
