I paint these loose, vibrant and juicy apples set up in my shadow box. This allows me to manipulate the light, shadows and reflections adding for more interest. I try to lay down thick brushstrokes of oil paint and leave it on the canvas trying to use as few a brushstrokes as possible. My goal is to keep the loose appeal creating more of an abstract nature than a realistic painting. My favourite part is laying in the last touches of highlights to pop the apples.
