For years I having been following the works by Mike Svob as I love his use of colour and brush techniques. He says that one should never paint colours that we do not like nor do we need to paint the colours that we see. As long as you have done your 'notan's or thumbnail sketches so that you have strong values (lights, dark, and mid tones) you can assign any colour to your painting and still create a great painting.
Mike will be holding a 2 day workshop the first week in April at Qualicum Beach and I am so excited as I just signed up. He has been one of my favourite artists for years and I very much look forward to learning some of his techniques first hand and applying them to my own painting style.
